Benjamin was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, moved to Kingsport, Tennessee when he was 4 years old. He died, unexpectedly, in his home in Gray. After High School (Dobyns Bennett HS), he pursued several deep passions; he became certified in scuba diving to spend more time frequenting the Gray Quarry, opened A+ Aquatics so he could build ponds and other aquatic structures to beautify the Tri-Cities area, and he was a devoted member of Christ Fellowship Church in Kingsport, TN where he was empowered to live his faith boldly and love people wholly. Benjamin's life was a beautiful dance with his Creator, nature, the water, and the people he loved the most. Benjamin was also a faithful member of SOS, Seeking our Savior.
Benjamin had a heart for people. He traveled twice to Zambia, Africa on mission trips, and traveled the US for work, always taking the time to learn about different regions and people he got to meet along the way. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed learning new things and having discussions on any topic. Benjamin was a fierce friend with an empathetic connection to those around him - he intuitively knew how to show up for them through gifts of service, letters/texts of encouragement, sharing music, or calling just to say hello. He radiated love for people of all walks of life without judgment and everyone he met became family to him.
Benjamin leaves behind his beloved jewel and wife, Leah Renee; children Lance Smith and Bryleigh Smith; as well as a nephew Ethan Jackson.
Other Surviving family members are his mother, Maria Andina Jackson; siblings, Beth Meyer, Peter Jackson, Kaylin Brown, Paul (Tina) Jackson, Kara Jackson, James Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Jonathan Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
He is survived also by his family-in-love:
Grady & Susan White with children Elizabeth (Dakota) Johnson and Jonah (Kali) White; Grant & June Eledge with daughters Mikal and Vashti; Karen Boehm with sons Christopher and Siegfried; Brooke Crawford and husband Charlie with their children; as well as Seth Atkins, and Dalton Jones.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Jackson and all of his dear Grandparents.
A memorial will be held for Benjamin at Christ Fellowship Church on Saturday, February 11, 2023. The family will receive visitors from 11am-12pm with a service to follow.
