Barbara Jean Akers

Barbara Jean Akers, 67, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with her Husband in Heaven on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020. Barbara was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1952. She moved to Kingsport, TN as a child and lived here her whole life. She met Hal when she was 16 and a few years later they married. They had a wonderful 51 years together where they raised a wonderful family. Barbara loved her children and even helped raise other kids in the neighborhood. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and caring grandmother. She will be greatly missed by many. She is preceded in death by husband, Hal Akers; daughter, Louise Greene-Trivette; mother, Virginia Bailey; father, Albert Fletcher. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Wendy Greene Moody, and Sheryl Stone and husband Todd, Christina Smith and husband Michael; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Brittney, Allen, Caleb, Andrew, Aaron, Beth; great grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Taylor, Maleigha, Shylee; brother, Darrell Fletcher; niece, Kita Fletcher; sister-in-law, Sharon Akers. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 4pm to 6pm at Trinity Memorial Memorial Centers. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Chad Roberts of Preaching Christ Church officiating. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 11am. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
