Andrew Eugene Gauvin

March 17, 1958 — September 22, 2015

Andrew Eugene Gauvin, March 17, 1958 - September 22, 2015; Andy, known by his friends as "Drew" passed away unexpectedly late Tuesday night. He resided in Dungannon, VA, was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and lived the majority of his life in Moosup, CT. Drew was a traveler and through his journeys, never knew a stranger, and always met a friend. Andy spent twelve years of his life serving in the US military, six years in Germany and two in Korea. He reached the rank of tank platoon sergeant, E-6 over 6. As a teenager he worked with his family as a dog trainer for the Plainfield Dog Track and continued his expertise with dogs at several greyhound tracks throughout his entire life. The rest of his working life, he dedicated his time as a supervisor at Bolmet, Inc. in Dayville, Conn., and hauled miles and miles all over the country, truck driving for Allen Freight after accomplishing and graduating truck driving school. Drew loved to work with his hands and to get in his blue truck and go. He was cheerful in all weathers and would do anything for a neighbor. He was a great collector of rare and interesting goods. He could do anything he put his mind to, determined in every way. Andy was predeceased by his mother, Helen Thomas and his father Edward Gauvin. He is survived by his loving partner Nancy Carter, his daughter and best friend Jessie Smith as well as her husband James Smith; his siblings and their spouses, Jeanette and John Stewart, Suzette and Mark Wise, Michelle and Matthew Lewis, Paul and Sandra Gauvin, along with several nieces and nephews. Drew was a dog's best friend. He leaves behind Scarlet, Levi, Phantom and Guido, his loyal companions. Andy will be laid to rest at the Pachaug State Forest in Plainfield, Connecticut at a later date. All are welcome to celebrate the life and death of this neighbor, father, partner and friend.
