Albert Sidney Johnson

Albert S. Johnson, 77, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 20, 2021 with his family lovingly by his side. Al was born on December 23, 1943 to James and Grace Johnson in Franklin, TN. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. He loved to cook, and he owned and operated several restaurants throughout his career. His love for the Lord led him into preaching ministry at 38 years old. He was of the Baptist faith. Al was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Johnson; siblings, Bill Johnson, James Johnson, Jeff Johnson, George Johnson, Mack Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Nancy Fournier and Jean Boyd. Al was extremely kind and full of life. He lived every day with a positive attitude, and he loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Elizabeth Johnson; children all of Kingsport, David (Tabby) Johnson, Nichelle (Roger) Shanks, Amy (Brian) Ward, Betty (Chris) Harmon, Jessica Stump, Jeremiah Johnson and Jennifer Rohrssen; grandchildren, Katie (Andrew) Copas, Sydney Ward, Ethan Ward, Abby Harmon, Sam Harmon, Eli Harmon, Evan Harmon, Brady Stump and Mason Stump; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Copas, Emmett James Copas, Emerie Blair and Ella Almany; siblings, Irene (Dwight) Moody of Kingsport and Faye Ross of Joelton; special nephew, Ray Johnson of Lebanon whom he spoke to often and several special nieces and nephews. He will forever be in their hearts and missed every day. The family requests in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Salvation Army. Al enjoyed volunteering through feeding and finding work for the homeless. There will be a private graveside service on Wednesday, December 22nd.
