Roy Lee “Bo” Simpson

May 05, 1968 - May 21, 2019

Roy Lee “Bo” Simpson, 51, of Gray, TN, went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, May 21st, 2019.

Bo was born in Johnson City, TN in 1968. He was a graduate of Daniel Boone High School class of 86. Those who knew him when he was younger can remember what a jokester he was. Bo was well liked and was fun to be around. He had many friends growing up.

Bo enjoyed church and after high school he met his sweetheart singing in the choir. He told his mother that he would marry that girl even though he didn’t know her name or much about her. She was the one for him. They dated for a year and a half and were wed at the Y Freewill Baptist Church.

Bo and Cindy had two wonderful boys whom they cherished. Fishing and camping was something he loved and shared with his family. His dad taught him to fish growing up and he passed the torch by teaching his boys how to fish. He kept fishing with his two best friends, his dad and Jeff Fields.

He was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN. To say he Loved Jesus was an understatement. Bo loved the Lord with his whole soul and wouldn’t hesitate to tell anyone within ear shot of his testimony. He also would love to sing about the Lord and would do that often too in public places. Bo had a big heart for everyone he met and quickly made friends in life no matter where he went.

When he wasn’t fishing, camping, or spending time with his family he was out in his garden, loved to watch old westerns, and squirrel watching. He was an avid bird watcher and would often care for them, feed them, and set out bird houses. Bo loved nature.

Noah, his son, loved to preach since he could talk. Bo was very proud of Noah and would make time to go hear him preach at churches. He was also proud of Dakota, his son, for his God given talent to sing.

He is preceded in death by his sweet mother, Zella Simpson.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 30 years, Cindy Simpson; sons, Dakota Simpson, Noah Simpson; and many children whose lives we touched; granddaughter, Olivia; father, Leroy Simpson; brother, Randall Simpson and wife Lisa; sister, Sandra Simpson; niece, Savannah LeBarre and husband Bryan.

Everyone is invited to come to Faith Freewill Baptist in Johnson City on May 25th from 1pm to 3pm for fellowship as we share stories and warm memories of Bo. Funeral service will follow at 3pm with Pastor Stephen Miller, Noah Simpson and Gary Hodges officiating.

Graveside will follow at McCarty Family Cemetery in Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Tanguay, Michael Wilson, James Chatman, Daniel Hopson, Isaiah Hopson, Aaron Thompson, Trey Balthis, and Bryan LeBarre. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Miller, Jeff Fields, and Tim Reece.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bo may be made to Faith Freewill Baptist Church, 824 North State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, Tn 37604.

Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
