Victor Hubert Jenkins

December 15, 1941 - January 11, 2020

Victor “Vic” Hubert Jenkins, 78, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 11th, 2020.
Vic was born in Kimball, West Virginia on December 15th, 1941 to Hobert and Sallie Jenkins and was raised in Carswell, WV. Following is graduation from Kimball High School, he worked alongside his daddy in the coal mines. Vic was also a member of the National Guard and was deployed as a sharp shooter during the Detroit Riots.
Vic made a decision to move to Jackson, MI where he worked at Clark Equipment for 17 years. Upon the plant closing he opened a bluegrass music store “The Pickin Parlor” in Leslie, MI. He later added “Indian Motorcycle Leslie” and became an Indian motorcycle dealer.
Vic married Sandy on July 4th 2009 in Chelsea, MI. In 2010 they closed the store in Michigan and moved to Kingsport, TN to enjoy the mountains and warmer weather. Shortly after moving they opened “Tennessee Sounds” music store until his health declined due to cancer.
Vic taught himself how to play banjo, guitar, and fiddle. He loved to play and sing bluegrass gospel music and talk to people about the Lord. Vic always said “He lived a great life.” He was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church in Kingsport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence; sister, Sharon Thorold.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; daughter, Vanessa Christie (N.C.); sister, Barbara Loice (Dwight) Houck of Jerome, MI; special friend, Charles “Chuckie” Peterson of Jackson, MI; stepchildren, Michael (Kelly) Ball of Manchester, MI, Michelle (Thom) Baisden of Grass Lake, MI; sister-in-law, Josephine Jenkins of Ariat, VA; brother-in-law, Tom Thorold of Spring Port, MI; mother-in-law, Betty Bailey of Kingsport, TN; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
