Troy Light Dorton, 57, of Duffield, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended battle with cancer. He was born July 31, 1960 in Kingsport. Troy was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Rye Cove, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Dorton and Margaret Ann Hill Dorton; and brother, Jackie Dorton.
Troy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Robin Dorton, of the home; daughters, Samantha Stanley and Kayla Dorton (both of Duffield, VA); granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emiley Stanley; sister, Doris Dorton McDavid and husband Vernon; several nieces and nephews; a special lifelong friend Danny Ramsey; and family friend Darrell Stanley.
The family of Troy Dorton will receive friends on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Elder Jimmy Hammonds officiating. Special music will be provided by the Hammonds Family. Burial will follow at McDavid Family Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
