Ronald James “Ron” Dillard

May 31, 1948 - May 16, 2016

Ronald James “Ron” Dillard, 67, after a lengthy battle with cancer, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16, 2016. Ron was born in Kingsport, TN and he was of the Apostolic Faith. He married his childhood sweetheart in 1965 and was blessed with a big family, whom he cherished spending time with especially their family camping trips. His hobbies were watching Nascar racing during the Earnhardt legacy and watching Tennessee football. Ron was the type of person who never met a stranger and he enjoyed talking. He lived his life by a certain set of rules, most only known to him and some we can’t print. The number 1 rule was to always put God first and love everyone. Ron was a retired truck driver who, among other companies, worked for Mason Dixon. He received the safe driver award 15 years in a row.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Betty Dillard; step-father, Hady Gibson; brother-in-law, Dennis Harris; and sister-in-law, Gilbretta Dillard.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Sandra Dillard; daughters, Penney and husband, Tim Davis and Misty and husband, Richard Lyons; son, Buddy and wife, Tonia Dillard; grandchildren, Ashlynn, Amanda, Zachary and wife, Katie, Austin, Sam, Noah, and Allen; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Isaiah; brothers, Robert Dillard and Charles Dillard; sisters, Phyllis Forbes and Wanda Harris; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Troy and Mary Gatlin.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow with Pastor Everett Lett of Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice and Somebody Loves Me Foundation for the kindness shown to our family during this time.

Ron always told everyone he met before they parted that he loved them. And so in closing, from Ron, “I Love You.”
