Rita B. Groseclose

December 19, 1930 - December 03, 2017

Rita June Groseclose, 86, born and reared in Nashville, TN, passed into eternity through the grace of and into the arms of her Saviour, Jesus Christ on Dec 3, 2017.  Born Dec 19, 1930 to Willie Franklin Brawner and Lela Bell Jones, she was the fourth of six children.  Rita was a graduate of Hume Fogg Technical High School, and attended classes at University of Tennessee Nashville and East Tennessee State University.  Rita was a medical assistant to a Nashville ear, nose, throat doctor before she married.  After her marriage she worked at a Kingsport bank.  Rita was a full time homemaker after the birth of her first child until 1980 when she became a legal secretary 20 years full time plus 4 years part time.  She always enthusiastically supported the efforts of her husband, Coach Clyde Groseclose, in all his coaching endeavours and attended with their children all his football games, and most of his basketball games and track meets.  Rita was a talented painter, floral arranger and gardener.  She loved poetry and music, especially Christian.  She had a kind, loving, generous and forgiving spirit. Preceding her in death on Oct 31, 2017 was her loving, devoted husband of 63 years, Murry Clyde Groseclose, Jr. Her siblings preceding her in death were Paul Wilson Brawner, Emma Jean Brawner (England) Tubbs, and Willie “Billie” Bell Brawner Hughel.

Rita is survived by her four children, Murry Clyde Groseclose, III of Kingsport, June Groseclose Stanley (Dennis) of Plano, TX, Robert William Groseclose of Kingsport, and Catherine Lee Groseclose of Plano, TX, three granddaughters, Lauren Stanley Fehr (Matt) of Richmond, TX, Morgan Stanley Dean (Cameron) of Garland, TX, Kirsten Elyse Stanley of Philadelphia, PA, and two great grandsons, Noah Earl Dean and Brayden Matthew Fehr; two sisters, Wanda Lynn Spurry (Mrs. James H.) of Sheboygan, WI, and Anna Ruth Campbell (Mrs. Lonnie T.) of Anchorage, AK, and scores of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.  

Family and friends will visit and celebrate Rita’s life on Saturday, Dec 9, 2017 from 12:00 pm until the service hour of 2:00 pm at Trinity Memorial Center, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport.  Rev. Mark Stayton, Music Minister of Kingsport Community Church will officiate and provide music.  Light refreshments will be provided during the visitation.
