Marvin T. Morgan, age 97, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, following a period of declining health.
Born in 1921 to William T. And Willie Bland Morgan, Marvin grew up in Nashville and later in Geneva, Ohio. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University and he served in the United States Air Force before marrying his sweetheart, Dorothy Ruth Lewis, in 1947. Shortly after, he began his long career as a nuclear physicist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was active in square dancing, music, rock collecting, reading and travel. He continued to pursue new interests and encouraged his family to do the same. He moved to Kingsport, Tennessee, in 2005.
His wife, Dorothy, preceded him to Heaven in 2015.
He is survived by his three children, Allan and wife, Pamela Morgan, Neil and wife, Artys Morgan and Valerie and her husband, Don Abernathy; and four grandchildren, Skyler, Eric, and Shealyn Morgan and Victoria and her husband, Greg Lawson.
Graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Memorial Park (1501 Bethel Valley Road, Oak Ridge, TN) on Saturday, March 17, 20018 at 3:00 pm. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Morgan, Skyler Morgan, Neil Morgan, Allan Morgan, Greg Lawson and Don Abernathy.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
