James Robert Sisco

December 07, 1940 - August 11, 2016

James Robert Sisco was called Home on Thursday, August 11, 2016 with his loving family by his side.

Known to many as “Sisco”, he was born in East Chicago, Indiana on December 07, 1940 and was raised in Evansville, Indiana. As a proud American, he served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English at the University of California at Berkeley in 1977 and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Education and a Master’s of Divinity. As a true renaissance man, he was known as many things in life: he was a high school teacher, church pastor, military Veteran, professional musician, high school basketball coach, an equestrian, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, biker, fisherman, construction worker, writer and so much more.

Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Linda; his children, James Sisco, Jr. and wife, Sarah, Jennifer Porretta and husband, Frank and Joseph Sisco; four grandchildren, Gabriella, Jeremiah, Franco and a granddaughter due in September; his step-children, Robin Celaya and husband, Sergio, April Brewer and Rick Maldonado and wife, Kristen; and nine step-grandchildren.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1 PM.

The family of James Sisco is especially grateful for the exceptional care he received at the Mountain Home VA Hospital, especially by Dr. Rogers, Dr. Thorpe and the compassionate nursing staff in the Progressive Care Unit. The family would also like to thank Teresa and Don Wilcox for their selfless support of our family in time of need.

Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) will be serving the family. You may visit trinitymemorialcenters.com if you wish to leave a message of condolence or to send flowers to the family.
