Jacob Tatum

November 11, 2017 - December 24, 2017

Jacob Elijah Tatum passed away at six weeks of age in his mother and father’s arms on December 24th at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt after a brief illness.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Trinity’s Downtown Life Celebration Center(Model City Event Center, 201 E Center Street, Kingsport, Tn). Family, Friends, and Co-workers are encouraged to attend the memorial to extend sympathy and comfort to Johanna, Jared, and Christian during this difficult time. At this time, it is requested that no kids attend the memorial. A small graveside service will be held at noon on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery for very close friends and family. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet 15 minutes prior to the graveside service at the cemetery.

Jacob is survived and remains cherished by his parents, Johanna and Jared Tatum, and brother, Christian Tatum, of Kingsport, TN. Jacob is also survived by his grandmother Connie Jo (Norm) Spellberg, grandfather Robert Armerding, uncle Sam (Karin) Armerding, uncle Jonathan (Lisa) Armerding, uncle Josh (Jenny) Armerding, and uncle Ben (Heather) Armerding all of California and aunt Julia (Paul) Blair of Kingsport. Jacob also leaves behind grandfather Kevin (Crystal) Tatum, great-grandparents Henry and Myrna Tatum, and uncle Preston Tatum all of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Lorrie Word, great-grandparents Denford and Lorine Mercer, great-grandparents Helen and George Armerding, and great-grandparents Donald and Beatrice Thorpe.

Jacob’s parents would like to express their gratitude for the support shown by friends and family during this arduous and painful time. They hope that Jacob’s legacy will be to inspire others to help future children fight and win battles against infectious disease.
